Roy Lee Ince Sr., 81, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2010. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park with military honors and Masonic graveside service. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Roy was born Feb. 21, 1929, to Laurence Ince and Minnie Ione Holt Ince. He graduated from Technical High School in 1947. After graduation from high school, Roy attended the University of Oklahoma and then Arlington State College until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany from December 1949 until his discharge in January 1952. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1960. Roy married his sweetheart, Bendette Shugart, on March 17, 1951. Roy and Bendette became parents in 1954 with the birth of a daughter, Joy Ann, and in 1955, a son, Roy Lee Jr., was born. Roy began his work career at Pure Oil Co. in Fort Worth and in Midland. He then went on to work as a draftsman designer for Carter & Burgess Engineering in Fort Worth for 32 years until his retirement. Roy was a good Christian man and belonged to Gambrell Street Baptist Church. He was a master Mason for over 50 years and belonged to Southside Masonic Lodge No. 1114 in Fort Worth. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at South Fort Worth Chapter No. 835 and a 32nd-degree Mason in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a loving and devoted husband to Bendette and a beloved PawPaw to seven grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren. Roy will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Ione Holt, and his brother, Thomas Gene Ince of Austin. Survivors: Beloved wife of 59 years, Bendette Ince; daughter, Joy Lohmer and husband, Peter, of Lake Whitney; son, Roy Jr. and wife, Janell, of Niwot, Colo.; grandchildren, Dell Foster, Danell Foster Harris and husband, Sean, Benjamin Lohmer Sr. and wife, Ruth, Matthew Lohmer and wife, Emily, Amy Lohmer Tamayo and husband, Bryan, Krystle Ince and T.J. Ince; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Tamayo, Ella Tamayo and Benjamin Lohmer Jr.; and numerous friends.
