Flora was the daughter of David & Mary Ann (Aucherman) Pitman of Indiana; granddaughter of John Philip & Susannah (Crabill) Pittman of Virginia; and greatgranddaughter of Andreas and Anna Gertraut Schworm Bittman of Germany. Her husband, Joseph Pitman, was a g2-greatgrandson of Andreas Bittmann. Joseph's grandfather, John Pittman Sr, was a first cousin of Flora's father, David Pitman.
