Son of Gideon & Mary J Champion Pitman, grandson of John Jr & Susannah Oatman Pittman, greatgrandson of John & Elizabeth Mauck Pittman of Indiana, gr2-grandson of Nicholas & Catherine Snapp Pittman of Virginia.

Thos' older gravestone lies immediately north of his parents' newer monument and his name is inscribed on the left side of the monument.
