Mrs. Kathryn E. McFeeters, 84 of Van, widow of Charles McFeeters and a retired school teacher, died at 1pm Friday in her home after a short illness.
She was born March 4, 1891 in Lamartine, a daughter of Robert and Ellen Shakley Hays. She graduated from Clarion Normal School (now Clarion State College) and taught in a number of public schools in the area before retiring.
She married September 11, 1917 (incorrect date) to Charles McFeeters. He died October 11, 1962.
Mrs. McFeeters was a member of the Nickleville Presbyterian Church and the Missionary Society of the church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Caryl) Ziegler of Van, with whom she made her home; two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Ruth Elizabeth, is deceased along with a great-granddaughter, Nicole Harry, three brothers and six sisters.
Friends will be received in the William N. Rupert Funeral Home at Knox after 7 PM today and after 3:30 PM Sunday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the funeral home with Rev. Herman Ridley, pastor of the Van United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
