JONES, Aquilla B. of Dayton, OH passed on July 5,2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. She is survived by her husband of 48 years. Howard L. Jones, two children, Karen L. Jones and Steven H. (Kristin) Jones, both of Cincinnati, an adopted daughter Lolita Adams-Johnson, and 4 adopted grandchildren, Chris Adams, Antoria Thomas-Adams, Heaven Adams and Titoe Johnson, all of Dayton. Also surviving are two sisters, Florence (Isaiah) Wimple of Baltimore, MD, and Rosa Lea of Yanceyville, NC and one brother, Richard C. Brown of Washington, DC and a host of nieces and nephews, and many Christian friends. A native of Yanceyville, NC, Aquilla was a Dayton resident since 1961. Aquilla was a graduate of Morgan State University and received her Masters in Social Work from Atlanta University. She had a lifetime career in Social Work having retired from Montgomery County Children Services after 30 years in 1998. Aquilla was actively involved in her church (Zion Baptist), neighborhood association, and other voluntary efforts. She loved the Lord and always sought to live out her beliefs in all aspects of her life. Funeral service will be held 11:00 A..M. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Zion Baptist Church 1684 Earlham Drive, Rev Brodie Mathis, officiating. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Viewing 9:00 AM until time of service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to MCLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC.
