Enterprise, Blair, NE 18 July 1929

Mrs. Sophie Jensen, a resident of Washington County fifty years, died at her home at Kennard on Tuesday evening from the infirmities of advanced age. She was in poor health three years.

Mrs. Jensen was born in Denmark and came to the United States when a girl, settling in a Danish colony in Kansas. She came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sorensen. After her marriage to Soren Anderson, she moved to Washington County and resided there since. She married John C. Jensen following the death of her first husband.

Surviving are two children, Andrew P. Anderson, Kennard, and Mrs. Anna Markie, Los Angeles, California; four grandchildren, ? great grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph Sorensen, Omaha and Frank Sorenson, Grand Island.
Funeral arrangements await word from the daughter in California.

Burial permit states she was 83 and died of a cerebral hermorhage .

MRS. SOPHIA JENSEN DIES AT AGE OF EIGHTY-THREE

Mrs. Sophia Jensen, 53, passed away at Kennard Tuesday night from illness incident to old age, having been in very poor health for the past three years. She was born in Denmark, coming to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter M.H. Sorensen, when a young woman. For a number of years she worked in a Danish colony in Kansas before coming to Nebraska.

After her marriage to Soren Andersen she settled in Washington county where she has resided for the past 60 years. For many years the family resided on the farm where her son, Andrew D. Andersen, now lives. After the death of Mr. Andersen she continued to live on the farm with the children until her marriage to John C. Jensen when they came to Kennard to live about 25 years ago. Her granddaughter, Mrs. Paul Peterson, and family have been living with her and giving her all possible care for the past several months.

She is survived by two children, Andrew D. Andersen of Kennard and Mrs. Anna Markle of Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Joseph Sorensen of Omaha and Mike Sorensen of Grand Island, also survive her. Funeral arrangements have not been completed at this time, pending word from the daughter at Los Angeles.
