Mr Burke was born in Somerville and resided in Newark when he married the former Miss Annna Kallanbach, also of Newark, on February 21, 1917 in St. Mathew's Evalgelical Luthern Church.
Following their marriage the couple lived in Newark, Netcong and Stanton, Pennsylvania before moving to East Orange in 1937.
Mr Burke was a locamotive engineer with the Erie-Lackawana Railroad from 1910 to 1922. Subsequently, he was employed by the former Crocker-Wheeler Corp., from which he retired in 1952.
Mr Burke was a 50 year member of Eureka Lodge, No. 39 F & A M
He leaves his wife Anna (nee Kallanbach) and daughter Mrs Robert (Jacqueline) Taaffe of Springfield ; 5 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Grandchildren; brother of Mrs Martha Hendershot of Bound Brook, Mrs Laura Faraher of Cedar Grove, Harry of Brooklyn NY, Edward of Nutley, and Russell of Princeton.
