Robert died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at his home.

Born May 27, 1919, he was the son of the late Simon & Harriett Miller Redding. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Coretta Shealer Redding.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg, and served for many years as an Eucharistic minister. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Master Sargeant, and as supply officer in San Francisco, CA.

He graduated from Bliss Electrical School in Tacoma Park, MD. He was employed by IBM as a Customer Engineer Manager for 48 years. He was a life member of the Gettysburg Elks & a member of the Albert J. Lentz Post 202 American Legion. He was a past president of AARP #1776 and Toastmaster Club in New Cumberland. He served several years as Boy Scout Commissioner in New Jersey Edison Council. He sang with the York Elks Chorus as top tenor and also with the AARP Chorus under the direction of Pat McCarthy.

He is survived by two sons, Robert W. Jr., of MN, Michael of Edison, 6 daughters, Jo Ann Prehn of Arendtsville, Judy Lampe of Spring Lake, NJ, Deborah Chamberlain of Phoenix AZ, Betty Stucki of New Comerstons, OH, Jayne Gustafson of Knoxville, TN & Pamela Palmer of Chalfont. 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a brother, Edward Redding of Washington, DC, and 2 sisters, Verna Sites of Gettysburg, & Kathryn Flynn of Florida.

He was predeceased by a son Thomas Redding, 2 brothers, Norton Redding, John Redding and a sister, Lillian Solomon.

Robert died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at his home.
