Mr. Spah was a survivor of the May 6th 1937 Hindenburg disaster in Lakehurst New Jersey. He was accused briefly of having something to do with the cause of its exploding. Mr. Spah was a circus performer in Europe before coming to the U.S. in 1922. In America he was a Vaudeville actor, a movie stuntman of renown, and a nightclub performer. He ended up living quietly in a small Va. town noted for 2 Civil War battles and an auto race track that played a big role in the early days of NASCAR. A detailed history of Mr Spah and others on the Hindenberg can be found by a search on the internet for 'Faces of the Hindenberg' by Patrick Russell.
