Private George M. Northway
Served with Co.E 1st Nevada Vol. Cav. from his enlistment Sept. 14th 1864 until his death on April 25th 1865 of Disease of the Brain (?) He was buried in the Fort Cemetery and there he lay forgotten until Feb. 1885 when He and the other 44 were reinterred at the Grand Army Of The Republic Gen. Custer Post No.5 in The Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City Nevada,
Now Because the original Wooden Grave Markers were used as fire wood by some of the Local Ranchers from 1870-1885 (I hope they had trouble sleeping at nights after that) So when moving day came They found the graves unmarked so not knowing who was who they gave the Soldiers New Stone Markers that simply Read "US Soldier"

The Attached Photo of George Northway (On Right Holding Sword) & Friend George W. Langley (Age 18 from Iowa and later appointed the Company Bugler) is Courtesy of The Fort Churchill Museum, And I wish to thank them for letting me copy it for find a Grave.
