Inscription

Erected by the members of the Corner Stone Lodge to the memory of Capt. Job E. Brewster master of the ship Joshua Bales who was lost on his passage from Charlestown SC to Harve, February 1833.

In 1970 when I transcribed this stone for a project I was working on, the following epitaph was visible: (also the place on the last line, HARVE, appears as HAVRE on the stone)

Speak! then thou voice of God within
Thou of the deep low tone!
Answer me! through life's restless din,
Where is the spirit flown?
-------------------Be thou still;
Enough to know is given;
Clouds, winds, and waves, their task fulfill,
Thine is to trust in Heaven.
