Earl Roy Olson
March 1, 1925 - July 8, 2010

Earl Roy Olson, age 85, of South Beloit, IL passed away at home on July 8, 2010 with his family at his side.

He was born on March 1, 1925 in Eau Claire, WI, the son of Harry and Effie (Anderson) Olson. Earl graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1944. He started working for Benson Optical shortly after graduating and his time with Benson's took him to North Dakota and finally to Beloit. Earl went to work for Besley Wells in 1956 and retired in 1994 after 38 years of service. Earl married the former Beverly Mickey Nelson in Janesville, WI on August 24, 1964.

Earl is survived by his four sons, David (Pam) Nelson, Thomas (Bonnie) Nelson, Michael (Lola) Nelson and Mark (Carol Baertschi) Nelson, sister, Muriel Ausman of Eau Claire, WI, sister-in-law, Marlene Udell of South Beloit, IL, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, and two brothers-in-law, Fritz Ausman, and Jim Mears.

With the love and support from Mark and Carol, Earl was able to remain at home during his final days. Earl's family would like to thank the supportive and caring staff of Beloit Regional Hospice and a very special thank you to nurse Julie Kuhnle.

Dad's one liners will be sadly missed and his extra ordinary wit. He always enjoyed a quick game of hide-n-seek with his great-grandson Elijah and that is something Elijah will cherish forever.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Beeman of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Afton, Wisconsin officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Committal will be in Rockton Township Cemetery, Rockton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Beloit Regional Hospice.

Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home in Beloit is honored to be assisting the family.
