Samuel Charles Truesdall(Truesdale, Truesdel) was born on September 1, 1824 in Virginia to John Truesdall (1790-1871) and Sarah Shields (1785-1832). He was the ninth of ten children. His first wife was Bedica Ann Bell (1832-1852) and had two children Joseph and Sarah. On March 1, 1855 he married he married Sarah Ann Hoots (1834-1906) of Illinois. In 1856 they had their first child Castilla and in 1858 Dolores was born. The 1860 census has the family living in Centerville, Linn, Kansas Territory. In 1860 Irene was born. In 1862 Oreus was born and 1864 Ida was born followed by Ophenia in 1865. Son Levon was born in 1868 and Venona was born in 1869. The 1870 census has the family living in Union Oregon where he worked as a farmer. Daughter Castilla died in 1870 and daughter Venona died in 1878. The 1880 census has Samuel living in Island City and working as a farmer. In 1880 Samuel and Sarah were living with their niece Mable Holbrook in Union. Samuel passed away in 1905.
