"Janet's mother, Lucy, was a half-sister to my grandfather, Fred Baker. They saw one another often and were on very good terms. Lucy's husband, Adam, was a tailor. He owned a shop on Indiana Avenue in South Bend. My parents and my brothers lived in an adjoining residence which we rented from Uncle Adam until I was five.
"I knew Lucy and Adam's children, but lost contact with them over the years. I have a very fuzzy memory of attending a Blue Sox game at Playland Park in South Bend so we could watch Janet play."
