On January 4, 2008, we said goodbye to one of the West's last real "cowboys," Severn Leon (Larry) Fackrell. Larry was born on July 18, 1922 in Granger, Utah. He served his country as a signalman in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1948 he came home, met and married his eternal companion, Rita Asay. Together they raised five children, Robbie (Jolynn), Sharla Lane, Nolan (Michelle), Debra (Wayne) Phillips and Mary (Tom) Hansen. Dad loved his horses and trained and raced Thoroughbreds up until he retired "Pete" in the 2008 season. Dad was a faithful temple worker at the Jordan River Temple. He is having a long-awaited reunion with our mom. He is survived by his five children; brother, Max; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his eternal companion, Rita; grandchildren, Cammie Jo, Jessi Bo and Sheldon Fackrell. Funeral services will be held Wed., January 7th, 11 a.m. at the Hunter 1st Ward, 3665 S. 6000 W. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S.
