Selah was the son of John Perrine Appleget (1851 – 1931) and Elizabeth Peterson (1858 – ?), both born in NJ.

He was the first husband of Laura Pearl Bugbee (1883-1968), daughter of Daniel S. Bugbee and Eliza Collins. Following Selah's death Laura married Chester Loverne Jenne, born in Nebraska.

Selah and Laura had one son, Willard Bugbee Appleget, born April 12, 1915 in Trenton, Mercer Co., NJ.

The US Census taken June 12, 1900 lists the following household members, all born in NJ and all living in Monroe Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ:

The US Census taken April 19, 1910 lists Selah G. Appleget, age 28, single and living as a border on Perry Street in Trenton, Mercer Co., NJ. His occupation was listes as a locomotive fireman.

Selah's Sept. 12, 1918 WW I Draft Registration lists him and his wife Laura living at 403 Cook Street in Trenton, Mercer Co., NJ. He was age 37 and employed as an engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
