Birth name Guido Gennettassio, arrived in the U.S. via Ellis Island in 1904 with his mother and several siblings. His father had already arrived to the U.S. the year prior with an elder son in order to prepare for the rest of the family's arrival.

Legally changed his name as an adult to William Gennetti.

Along with his wife Elizabeth Scotese, he raised his four children in South Philadelphia on 15th St.

William was a self-made man and had taken so many classes over the years that Temple University bestowed upon him a Bachelor's Degree in 1976 and honored him as their eldest college graduate at that time.

William worked as a Philadelphia Architect. (As a young apprentice in 1929, he helped in the construction of the Philadelphia Museum of Art during which time he suffered an eye injury that tore his cornea.)

His brother was President of Uraguay where he died in office in the 1960's. (Gennettassio)

William was a much beloved man survived by his four children, and ten grandchildren. He now has eight great-grandchildren.

We all loved him and miss him very much. He was a great man.
