Sgt. Donald R. Edgerton, 33, of Murphy, N.C., died July 10 near Char Dara, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. Donald was born to Donald Edgerton and Patsy Champion Edgerton. A member of the U.S. Army. Survivors include: wife, Deana Edgerton, daughter Jordyn Edgerton, of Ft. Drum, N.Y., father and mother, Donald & Patsy Edgerton of Murphy, N.C.,two brothers Kyle Edgerton & Patrick Edgerton, grandmother, Charlotte Champion, & one neice Cali.
