She was born Sept. 3, 1915, in rural Underwood, to Gilbert and Ragna (Stompro) Pederson. She grew up in the Underwood area and graduated from Underwood High School in 1933. During her years in high school she was a very intense and competitive girls' basketball player.
On Sept. 28, 1941 she was married to Art Walvatne in rural
Underwood.
She was very active in Tingvold Lutheran Church, serving as a leader for the Sunday School Program and also participating in Ladies Aid activities. She later began worshiping at Messiah Lutheran Church. She was also active on the Barnhard School PTA. Her family was her main interest in life.
She is survived by her husband, Art of Fergus Falls, sons, Dick (Peggy) Walvatne of Fargo and Curt Walvatne and Nancy Walvatne, both of Fergus Falls; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Fred, Marion, Elmer and Clifford Pederson; sisters: Eline Sem, Ella Nygaard, Grace Wold, Rosella Walvatne and Anna Walvatne.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church, rural Underwood
