Early records have Wallace Barden Ludgate, later records have Barden Wallace Ludgate.

Headstone has incorrect date of birth. It gives 28 Mar 1877. Barney's WWI & WWII draft cards gave the date of his birth as 28 Mar 1879, this is information was provided by Barney himself. The 1880 US Census gives his age as 1 year old rather than 3 years old if he were actually born in 1877. Several other US & Minnesota Censuses agree with the year being 1879.

The family lived in Elk River from 1875 to 1880 according to Census information. In 1885 the family lived in Mooersville Township, Crow Wing County, Minnesota (Mooersville Township is now extinct). In 1895 the family lived in Brockway Township, Stearns County, Minnesota.

Barney married Delia Ella Crosby on 14 Oct 1897 in Morrison County, Minnesota.

In 1900 Barney was a farmer in Grass Lake, Kanabec, Minnesota. In 1905 the family lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota and Barney was a laborer.

From 1907-1910 Barney & family lived in North Dakota. 2 children were born in North Dakota: Goldie & Dale. On 14 Jun 1909 Barney purchased 160 acres of property in Williams County, North Dakota.

From 1910 until 1942 Barney lived in Deer River, Spring Lake & Sand Lake all in Itasca County, Minnesota. He worked in the lumber industry as a Logger, Teamster & Wood Cutter.

In 1957 Barney moved to Sterling, Logan, Colorado.
