Abraham was the son of a Russian immigrant physician. He was the 3rd Battalion Surgeon with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment during the Allied invasion of Normandy in WWII. Abraham was captured by the Germans, in the town of Graignes, Normandy, after he volunteered to stay with wounded paratroopers during a withdrawal. He was summarily executed because of the Americans' spirited defense of the town.
