R. E. "Ed" Workman, 78, of Ozark, died at 1:24 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in Burge-Protestant Hospital, Springfield, following a short illness. He was a resident of Sparta for several years and also lived for a number of years in Springfield and Rogersville. Mr. Workman had owned and operated several service stations in the area. He was a member of the Sparta Christian Church. Mr. Workman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Margaret Workman, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. A. M. Alexander, Springfield; Mrs. Mae Morriset, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Bert West, Halltown, Mrs. Harold Stott, Sycamore; two brothers, Henry of Kissee Mills and Mike of Ozark; six grand children and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday in the Harris Chapel here with the Rev. T. E. Weaver and the Rev. Clifford Bay officiating. Burial was in the Sparta Cemetery.
