Pioneer County Woman Dies; Rites Held At Alfalfa
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ann Medlock, San Bernardino, Calif., a pioneer resident of the Carnegie community, were held at the Alfalfa Baptist church at 4 p.m. Sunday. Burial was in the Alfalfa cemetery. Other funeral services were held in San Bernadine Friday.
Mrs. Medlock died Thursday, March 5, in a San Bernardino hospital after an illness of two years. She had been living in California about three years.
A native of Sherman, Miss., she was born November 8, 1871. She moved to Waxahatchie, Texas, in 1893 and in 1899 to the Indian Territory, near Davis. She and her husband, John A. Medlock, had been residents of the Carnegie community for almost 50 years living near Alfalfa living near Alfalfa before moving into Carnegie in 1951. Her husband preceded her in death on September 9, 1955, in Carnegie.
Survivors include six sons, Earl of Faxon, Okla., Eugene, Fred and Albert of San Bernardino, Buford of Fontana, Calif., and Floyd of La Puente, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Bessie McMillan, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Ann Engebretson of Long Beach and Mrs. Mrs. Ida Upham, Slaton, Texas.
