Dallas C. Hillard, 93, of Bowling Green, passed away on February 9, 2016.

He was born in Hoytville, Ohio on December 15, 1922 to George and Edith (Slaughterbeck) Hillard.

He married Virginia Fullmer in 1946, they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Hillard was a life-long farmer who knew the importance of his vocation to America's economy and people.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a radio operator and flew 35 missions over Germany during World War 2.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, the Bradner American Legion, and the Black Swamp Car Club.

Following retirement he was an adjustor for crop insurance.

He was a former board member of Elmwood Schools.

In 1991 he was the recipient of the Forester Stewardship Award by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

He truly loved nature and was very proud of his family.

During his lifetime Mr. Hillard donated 44 units of blood (over 5 gallons) which, according to the Red Cross, saved 132 lives.

In addition to his wife, Virginia he is survived by sons, Dr. Mark (Ann) Hillard of Sylvania, Oh. Dr. Bruce (Lucinda) Hillard of Holland, Oh. and Scott Hillard of Bowling Green. Also left to mourn his passing are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
