Helen F. Wood Funeral Held Here Saturday - Mrs. Helen F. Wood, 72, Algona resident for the past 10 years, died Thursday evening at St. Ann hospital here. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Regular Baptist church, with Rev. Charles Hawkins officiating. Burial was at Armstrong Grove cemetery, Armstrong.
Helen Flora Burt, daughter of Andrew and Susie Mitchell Burt, was born September 20, 1895 at Armstrong. She married Norman B. Wood there December 26, 1917 and they farmed south of Lone Rock until he died June 21, 1953. She lived with her daughters for the past 1 1/2 years due to ill health.
Survivors include her daughters, Maxine (Mrs. John Blumer), LuVerne, and Roberta (Mrs. Forrest Teachout), Pella; five brothers and sisters, Andrew Burt, Jr. and Alva Burt, Armstrong, Glen Burt, Estherville, Susie (Mrs. Neil Helmers), Dunnell, Minnesota, and Robert Burt, Fenton; 15 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
One brother preceded her in death.
