Valentine Irene "Vallie" Center was born 14 Feb 1895 in Texas to Richard Austin Center and Aletha Emiline Jones. Named for the day she was born on she was the 4th of 8 children.

30 Jun 1900 she and her family are living at rented farm in Township 4, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Her father is a farmer and both her parents can read and write. Aletha reports 4 of her 5 children are still living. The household member are Richard Austin Center 39, Aletha Emiline Jones 31, Bertie A Center 9, John Samuel "Johnie" Center 7, Valentine Irene "Vallie" Center 5, and Lorin Lloyd "Tobe" Center 2. The Leslie F Center born 26 Jun 1889 in Texas passed away 10 Mar 1890 in Texas at 8 months of age. He was Richard and Aletha's first born child.

May 9th 1910 they are renting a farm in Lexington, Cleveland, Oklahoma. Richard is still a farmer and everyone except the youngest child can read and write. Aletha reports that 6 of her 8 children are still living. June 5th 1917 Murray registers for the draft. He and his new bride are living in Lexington, Cleveland, Oklahoma. He is working for Loftin & Ambrister in Purcell, McClain, Oklahoma as a cotton gin fireman. His physical description is medium height, slender build, brown hair and blue eyes.

07 Jan 1920 finds Murray and his wife Valley are renting a home in Lexington, Cleveland, Oklahoma and they have been blessed with a daughter. Living with them and listed as boarders are Valley's brother and his new bride (who is also a twin.) Murray is working as an engineer in the stationary industry. The household members are Murray Washington Black 28, Valentine Irene "Vallie" Center 24, Valeria Lorene Black 2, Lorin Lloyd "Tobe" Center 21, and Elizabeth Jane Wilhite 18. They are family 98/101 in the census.

He is working at the Farmer's Co-operative Gin Company in Lexington, Cleveland, Oklahoma. His physical description is he is White, 5'8", 140 pounds, brown hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion.
