Hobart Vinton Addington, 75, of Mansfield, died Thursday March 27, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Addington was born September 12, 1927 in Coeburn, Virginia. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Buchanan Addington on September 12, 1950. He retired from Stone Container Corp in June of 1978 and was a member of Baptist Faith Church. Hobart loved to do gardening and fishing and talking on the CB, his handle was "Roll Shafter".
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Addington; four sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Kathy Addington; Ray Addington; Randall and Linda Addington all of Mansfield; and Kevin and Kim Addington of Coeburn, Virginia; three adopted grandchildren and their spouses, Carrie and Dan English; Jason Addington; and Preshie and David Stirtzinger; 10 grandchildren, Jenny, Brian, Kyle, Amanda, Ryan, Amber, Joshua, Sami, Austin and Ashley; seven, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart Arnold and Preashie (Powers) Addington; and one sister, Effie Salyer.
Friends may call at The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Friday March 28, 2003 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Mansfield Freewill Baptist Church on Laver Rd., conducted by Pastors, J. Fielder and Fred Crank. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Mrs. Dorothy Addington.
