Anthony served as a Private with the 1st Delaware Infantry, Company H during the Civil War.

He enlisted in the 1st Delaware Infantry on October 31 1861 in Wilmington, Delaware for a 3 year term. He was noted as being 19 years old, born in Pennsylvania, 5' - 3" tall, light complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, and employed as a laborer.

He was captured on July 2, 1863 and became a Prisoner of the Confederate Army during the Battle Of Gettysburg. He was sent to Richmond, Virginia.

Anthony "Died Of Disease" while in the Prison Hospital in Richmond during the war.
