A Columbia man, near his 100th birthday, died last night after a brief illness. Sidney C. Fulmer, 99, was four months away from his 100th birthday, when he died yesterday evening. Born in Chapin, he was a son of the late Fereick and Sarah Ann Fulmer. He was a retired farmer. He had farmed in the Dutch Fork section until 1944 when he retired and moved to Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Fulmer celebrated their 75th anniversary in October of 1959. Mrs. Fulmer died in August of 1960. Mrs. Fulmer was Ada A Wessinger before her marriage. Mr. Fulmer was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. H. L. Seay, Mrs. E. F. Frick, Miss Idera Fulmer of Columbia, Mrs. W. D. Shealy of Little Mountain, Mrs. L. Y. Shealy of Chapin, Mrs. C. B. Shealy of Gastonia, N.C.; three sons, L. C. Fulmer of Newberry, S. C. Fulmer Jr. of Spartanburg and B. E. Fulmer of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Lula Derrick of Chapin, 37 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Thomas Lutheran Church by the Rev. John Zeigler and Dr. A. Kenneth Hewitt.
