CLARA ANNETTE "SIS" BICKER
1919-2010

CLARA ANNETTE "SIS" BICKER passed from our presence peacefully on July 7, 2010, just shy of her 91st birthday, at the home of her daughter in Punta Gorda, Florida. She is being transported back to her roots in Pensacola for remembrance, prayers, and burial among her family and friends.
Sis began her life as the third daughter of Steven Walton Fell and Flossie Sweeny Fell, on August 13, 1919. She had three sisters and one brother: Josephine Fell Smith, Inez Fell Strange, Alice Fell Stopinski, and Steve Fell. The only living, (and still active), member of her immediate family is her "sister-in-law": Angela Bruno Fell Fishburn, (wife of Steve). All her family can say is... "They were always thoughtful and very proud of each other!"
Wife of her "Pensacola High School" sweetheart, Walter Lee Bicker, and mother of three children, Sis followed her husband throughout his military career and raised her children in many different environments with "Love", "Irish stubbornness", and a fervent "adherence to her Catholic faith"! She expressed these commitments using the values derived from her family-oriented manner of conducting her life. She believed in herself, her family, and her God!
Although Sis survived her husband for over 14 years, she herself is survived by her children: Walter Bicker Jr. and his wife Eileen; Lee Annette Lewis and her husband Lyle; also by Gary Bicker and his wife Cindy. She was also very proud of her grandchildren: Mary Gretzinger, Diane Lewis, David Lewis, Delores Lim and her husband Jae, Brett Bicker and Alison Bicker. We also add her extraordinary pride in her great grandchildren as well: Loren Gretzinger, Meredith Gretzinger, Naiya Lim and Kayla Lim.
Sis was a strong supporter of her family's choices in life! She was also adamant about her joy and participation in her faith! Wherever she lived, she was a member of her local parish's "Alter Society", as well as becoming a "Eucharistic Minister" in her hometown parish of St. John's. She was a lifelong member of the "Legion of Mary", and a ten year member of the "Women's Guild" at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Her Faith and her family were indeed the cornerstones of her life! Plus, she cherished her extended family and many friends, especially those with whom she 'played golf' or 'danced' over decades. She was an active person, who believed in participating in her community, wherever that might be.
Sis's thoughts were always about "us", her family and friends! We were always to be remembered, not to mention fodder for a funny story she loved to tell. And we are all grateful to have known and loved her; to have called her Mom or Sister, Aunt, or Friend, and to have learned so much from her! We, her family, believe that her many acquaintances feel the same.
Sis's Christian burial will be guarded by her "Active Pall Bearers": David Lewis, Loren Gretzinger, Emery Leonard, Jerry Fell, Steve Fell, and Jim Myers. Her "Honorary Pall Bearers" include Lyle Lewis, Jack Smith, Jon Bicker, and Tom McAdam.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Warrington will host a Catholic rosary at 4:30pm on the evening of Tuesday, July 14; followed by a visitation for family and friends from 5:00 until 7:00pm. Sis's "Mass of Christian Burial" will be held Wednesday, July 15, at 10:30am in St. John's Catholic Church, Warrington. Her burial procession will then continue to Barrancas National Cemetery at NAS Pensacola at 11:45am, where her body will finally rest along side of her husband.
On a date yet to be set, a memorial will also be held at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, Florida, where Sis was a Parishioner for the last ten years of her life.
