Henry August Pohler passed away at the Renger Memorial Hospital in Hallettsville Sunday, November 5, 1967 following a five-day confinement there. He attained the age of 65 years, 1 month and 6 days.
A native of Lavaca County, he was born on September 29, 1902, the son of Henry and Amelia (Gaertner) Pohler, natives of Germany and German Austria respectively. Prior to his move Moulton several years ago, he and his family lived in Houston for many years.
The Rosary was recited Monday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel at 8:00 p.m. and the funeral services were held Tuesday, November 7, at 9:45 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, continuing with Requiem Mass at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Robert Schmidt officiating. Internment was in the Moulton Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Pohler is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie (Putman) Pohler of Moulton; one son, Henry Pohler of Austin; one brother, Richard Pohler of Moulton, and one sister, Mrs. Gus (Della) Aschenbeck of Houston.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hugo Pohler Sr, died January 13, 1958; and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Frieda) Fischnar died February 22, 1964 and Mrs. Martha Biehunka, died March 21, 1961. His father died April 7, 1944 and mother died December 9, 1930.
Pallbearers were Roce Pohler, Dan Jackson, Jeff Burnett Jr., Arthur Pohler, Harvey Pohler, and Hiram Bunce.
