OBITUARY
Nancy Jane Hill was born in Fleming county, Kentucky July 30, 1860 and departed this life April 21, 1938 at the age of 77 years, 8 months. 21 days.: She was married to Fréderick Borkert Aug. 31, 1878.
To this union 10 children were born. All survive except Eilly who died in Infancy. She leaves to mourn a brother Val Hill of Leavenworth, Kans., and a sister Mrs. Mary Adams of Topeka. The children are Mrs. C. C. Janzen of Emporia, Mrs. Minnie Haydon, Mrs. Nannie Buchman, Fred Borkert, Jimmie Borkert, Mrs. Jake Ziegler, Mrs. Frank Hebrank, Mrs. Harry Walker and Mrs. Chas Wilkerson, all of Council Grove, thirty grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
In 1884 she with her husband moved to Morris county On a farm east of Council Grove in the Big John community. Mr. Borkert passed away in 1900. This sad event left Mrs. Borkert with the responsibility of rearing the family ranging in age from 18 years to 3 months, which she did faithfully and with honorable mention. She moved to C. G; in 1912 where she has made her home since that time.
She united with the Methodist church in Jackson county, Missouri in 1875. She transferred her membership to the Council Grove church in April 1928. She leaves to mourn beside her family and other relatives a great host of friends.
