Mrs. Cassels Illness Victim

Mrs. Agnes E. Cassels, 65, prominent Decatur woman, died at 10:30 Tuesday night at the Hamil Clinic. She had been in ill health several weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted at Brown's Chapel on Ferry Street at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon by Dr. L.D. Patterson, of Birmingham, former pastor of First Methodist Church here and Rev. R.M. Howell, the present pastor. Burial in City Cemetery will be directed by Brown.

Mrs. Cassels is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.C. Blackwood, Charlotte, North Carolina; a son, J.V. Cassels, of Birmingham; a sister, Miss Maud V. Clary, Birmingham; two brothers, Roy Clary, of Birmingham and T.A. Clary, of Miami; four granddaughters, Mrs. G.W. Pearce, Athens; Sarah Virginia Cassels, Birmingham; Martha and Virginia Blackwood, of Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, Vernon Cassels, Jr. of Camp Stuart.

Mrs. Cassels was born at Harlan, Georgia but has been a Decatur resident for 25 years. She was the widow of the late J.B. Cassels for many years local manager of the telephone company.

She was the daughter of T.L. Clary and Virginia Carroll, both born in Georgia. She was the widow of J.B. Cassels and died of cancer.
