Lisa Reed (Pasicznyk) - Florist, Businesswoman, Volunteer, and beloved Mother
Lisa Reed (Pasicznyk) was born Mar 24, 1964 in Philadelphia and was a lifelong resident of the Fairmount section of Philadelphia.
She attended St. Nicholas Elementary School in Fairmount section, having much fun with many of her cousins in the Kuziw family.
Lisa spent summers in Danboro Pennsylvania where she lived in a rural setting growing various plants and raising farm animals such as chickens and rabbits as loving pets. Much of this time was spent with her brothers Alan, David and Barry, members of the Diehl family and cousins in the Pasicznyk and Greenberg families. She became very active in the Middletown Grange in Wrightstown Pennsylvania at a young age and later volunteered for the annual Grange Fair with her cousin Roseann Greenberg.
Lisa next attended Girls' High School in Philadelphia where she was active in stage crew and a member of the exclusive "Knights of the Rectangular Table." One classmate there described her as "always laughing and smiling." She graduated in 1982 in class number 226.
Afterwards, Lisa went to Temple University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering in 1987. Simultaneously with her studies she did co-op in Temple University Physics Department adding much color to it. There she made many friendships with many professors as well as graduate and undergraduate students. Lisa would later return to Temple to earn a Masters Degree in Environmental Health in 1997.
After receiving her undergraduate degree, Lisa was employed at SmithKline Beckman (later renamed to Smithkline Beecham and Glaxo Smithkline (GSK)). She started out working in SmithKline Beckman Animal Health Products in West Chester and rose to the position of Senior Regulatory Analyst working in the corporate Intelligence Department. During her tenure at GSK she worked in the West Chester, Collegeville and Philadelphia offices. One coworker said "She had an extraordinary work ethic. She had a thirst for knowledge coupled with a commitment to excellence which was reflected in her professional work, personal avocations and everything she did."
But Lisa did more than just work at GSK; she knew how to enjoy life and help others to enjoy life. At GSK, Lisa was "the" designated event planner for all the special events and celebrations. One co-worker wrote, "Lisa worked in possibly the most conservative area of our company and in spite of that fact, she was able to perform to an exceptionally high standard while working in a cubicle she had decked out in strings of party lights, hippie beads, a hanging palm tree and, yes, pink flamingos. Passing her cube was always a bright spot in my day." Another wrote: "Lisa was the party planner at work. Lisa planned many major parties including baby showers, wedding showers, and retirements. She really knew how to throw a party."
One friend best summarizes Lisa at GSK: "She and Lynn loved stamping at lunch. They would reserve a conference room for the entire lunch hour and just stamp and laugh. Yes her cube was decorated with all kinds of stuff, the Christmas lights, the beads, the palm tree hanging from the ceiling and who can forget those huge pink flamingos. She was such a hard worker I was amazed. I remember one time I looked over at her and I couldn't see her for all of the paperwork on her desk. I remember asking her when was the last time you had a break and she couldn't remember. I was like wow she is so dedicated to doing a good job and making sure that every "t" was crossed and every "i" dotted that she couldn't remember a time when she had a minute to herself. But that was her; she gave above and beyond for everything she did."
While working at GSK, Lisa Met Roland Reed III a contractor who went on to work on set design and construction for many movies filmed in the Philadelphia area. They got married at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Philadelphia on May 27, 1995.
Lisa's greatest ability was her ability to organize fun and exciting events and inspire others to volunteer for community improvement events. She was the Fairmount Civic Association's (FCA) event coordinator for about 7 years, during which time she planned major events such as trips to baseball games, the Jersey Aquarium, outlet shops and more. As a Townwatch member, she could recruit massive numbers of people and organize the largest patrols ever. Not only were the patrols effective in deterring crime, but the patrolers also had fun. Roland and Lisa were also involved with Philadelphia Green coordinating neighborhood tree plantings and community gardening events. Together they worked on events aimed at the preservation of the Historic Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, and they were actively involved in the business community. But her favorite event was the "Children's Art Show". This show for grade school children would usually occur simultaneously with the "Fairmount Arts Crawl". It gave young children a sense of accomplishment to see their artwork adorned with ribbons. Lisa hoped to encourage children to enjoy the act of creation.
Lisa was extremely skilled in making beautiful things. Her crafts were displayed at St. Francis Xavier bazaar. One attendee wrote, "It was the highlight of the bazaar for me. I bought many wreaths, crafts for wedding gifts and birthdays. You name it. She had it or could make it. Crafty woman!" Lisa was an avid rubber stamper and knitter. Her creations were works of art: complex in design, precise in execution and exquisitely colorful. Lisa created handmade cards and gifts for friends and family for holidays and special occasions.
Lisa also loved going to the beach, especially Long Beach Island. She enjoyed traveling and discovering the world with trips to Alaska, Puerto Rico, Ireland, England, France to name a few.
The Reed family was blessed with the birth of daughter Rose Marie ("Little Rosie") in year 2006. The love that Lisa had toward Little Rosie was truly infinite.
Shortly after Rosie's birth, Lisa decided to leave the corporate world to pursue her dream of opening her own florist shop. Roland and Lisa purchased a storefront "fixer-upper" within sight of the Philadelphia Art Museum and proceeded to renovate the building during their "spare time" in the evenings and weekends. The store, Fleur de Lys, opened in September 2008. Lisa enjoyed working at the shop with Little Rosie and their dog Shelby at her side. It was a dream fully realized. One customer noted: "Little Rosie was there, the dog was there and all of her fabulous and unique flowers and gift items were there - I LOVED that shop." Another added "Lisa's smile and welcome were as beautiful as the flowers that she arranged."
Unfortunately, in the spring and summer of 2009 Lisa was stricken with multiple strokes and a heart attack caused by lung cancer. She courageously perservered through chemotherapy, physical therapy and speech therapy, and when it looked as though she was going to survive and recover, Lisa experienced a final devastating stroke.
Lisa died on July 8, 2010.
Lisa touched the lives of many people - and animals too - not just in the Philadelphia area, but throughout the world - from areas as near as next door to those as far away as Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her friends came from many walks of life, as well as many backrounds and lifestyles. They were like her rooftop garden--all colors, shapes and sizes, all different, and all loved--together making up a beautiful garden of life. Her love of life, people, animals, art, and nature will live on beyond her brief life on this home we call Earth.
Lisa's love for life was evident in all she did. When Lisa smiled - the whole world brightened. Lisa had the gift of making you feel like you were the most important person in the world and there was nothing she wouldn't do for you.
Everything Lisa did came from her heart. Her generosity of spirit, time, material sharing, and loving were boundless. One friend wrote "I remember being in a major almost fatal car accident in Delaware and Lisa was willing to drop everything to come see how I was. She came when I was in the hospital for various surgerie--she was always there, always willing to help, always being her giving self."
Lisa enriched every life she touched. Lisa's angelic touch and spirit will live on in this world and in all who were blessed with sharing her Earthly presence.
The family asks that friends and family respect Lisa's love of animals in need by making donations in the memory of Lisa Reed to the Morris Animal Refuge.
Lisa is survived by husband Roland Reed, daughter Rose Marie ("Little Rosie"), parents Rose Marie and Abel Pasicznyk, and brothers Alan, David and Barry Pasicznyk.
A viewing will occur on Tuesday July 13 from 6PM to 9PM at the Dinan Funeral Home (1921 Spring Garden St, #23, Philadelphia, PA 19130).
On Wednesday July 14 a public viewing will occur 9AM to 9:45AM, followed by a funeral service at 10AM. The funeral services will be at Saint Francis Xavier Church (2321 Green St, Philadelphia, PA 19130).
A burial service will occur at: Gethsemane Cemetary (3139 Kutztown Road, Reading PA 19605-2692). Reception will follow near Reading, PA.

Dear Friends and family of our dear, most beloved Lisa,
Back when Lisa was getting her injection, she was cold and asked to be covered up. I placed some blankets around her and arranged one around her head in an ancient Egyptian like fashion. Then we both got really silly (what a surprise) and started singing Steve Martin's "King Tut".
It was ironic that we sang this, especially the words "when I die and don't think I'm a nut. Don't want no fancy funeral, just one like ole King Tut".

Back when Lisa was getting her injection, she was cold and asked to be covered up. I placed some blankets around her and arranged one around her head in an ancient Egyptian like fashion. Then we both got really silly (what a surprise) and started singing Steve Martin's "King Tut".
It was ironic that we sang this, especially the words "when I die and don't think I'm a nut. Don't want no fancy funeral, just one like ole King Tut".

Lisa Reed (Pasicznyk) - Florist, Businesswoman, Volunteer, and beloved Mother
Lisa Reed (Pasicznyk) was born Mar 24, 1964 in Philadelphia and was a lifelong resident of the Fairmount section of Philadelphia.
She attended St. Nicholas Elementary School in Fairmount section, having much fun with many of her cousins in the Kuziw family.
Lisa spent summers in Danboro Pennsylvania where she lived in a rural setting growing various plants and raising farm animals such as chickens and rabbits as loving pets. Much of this time was spent with her brothers Alan, David and Barry, members of the Diehl family and cousins in the Pasicznyk and Greenberg families. She became very active in the Middletown Grange in Wrightstown Pennsylvania at a young age and later volunteered for the annual Grange Fair with her cousin Roseann Greenberg.
Lisa next attended Girls' High School in Philadelphia where she was active in stage crew and a member of the exclusive "Knights of the Rectangular Table." One classmate there described her as "always laughing and smiling." She graduated in 1982 in class number 226.
Afterwards, Lisa went to Temple University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering in 1987. Simultaneously with her studies she did co-op in Temple University Physics Department adding much color to it. There she made many friendships with many professors as well as graduate and undergraduate students. Lisa would later return to Temple to earn a Masters Degree in Environmental Health in 1997.
After receiving her undergraduate degree, Lisa was employed at SmithKline Beckman (later renamed to Smithkline Beecham and Glaxo Smithkline (GSK)). She started out working in SmithKline Beckman Animal Health Products in West Chester and rose to the position of Senior Regulatory Analyst working in the corporate Intelligence Department. During her tenure at GSK she worked in the West Chester, Collegeville and Philadelphia offices. One coworker said "She had an extraordinary work ethic. She had a thirst for knowledge coupled with a commitment to excellence which was reflected in her professional work, personal avocations and everything she did."
But Lisa did more than just work at GSK; she knew how to enjoy life and help others to enjoy life. At GSK, Lisa was "the" designated event planner for all the special events and celebrations. One co-worker wrote, "Lisa worked in possibly the most conservative area of our company and in spite of that fact, she was able to perform to an exceptionally high standard while working in a cubicle she had decked out in strings of party lights, hippie beads, a hanging palm tree and, yes, pink flamingos. Passing her cube was always a bright spot in my day." Another wrote: "Lisa was the party planner at work. Lisa planned many major parties including baby showers, wedding showers, and retirements. She really knew how to throw a party."
One friend best summarizes Lisa at GSK: "She and Lynn loved stamping at lunch. They would reserve a conference room for the entire lunch hour and just stamp and laugh. Yes her cube was decorated with all kinds of stuff, the Christmas lights, the beads, the palm tree hanging from the ceiling and who can forget those huge pink flamingos. She was such a hard worker I was amazed. I remember one time I looked over at her and I couldn't see her for all of the paperwork on her desk. I remember asking her when was the last time you had a break and she couldn't remember. I was like wow she is so dedicated to doing a good job and making sure that every "t" was crossed and every "i" dotted that she couldn't remember a time when she had a minute to herself. But that was her; she gave above and beyond for everything she did."
While working at GSK, Lisa Met Roland Reed III a contractor who went on to work on set design and construction for many movies filmed in the Philadelphia area. They got married at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Philadelphia on May 27, 1995.
Lisa's greatest ability was her ability to organize fun and exciting events and inspire others to volunteer for community improvement events. She was the Fairmount Civic Association's (FCA) event coordinator for about 7 years, during which time she planned major events such as trips to baseball games, the Jersey Aquarium, outlet shops and more. As a Townwatch member, she could recruit massive numbers of people and organize the largest patrols ever. Not only were the patrols effective in deterring crime, but the patrolers also had fun. Roland and Lisa were also involved with Philadelphia Green coordinating neighborhood tree plantings and community gardening events. Together they worked on events aimed at the preservation of the Historic Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, and they were actively involved in the business community. But her favorite event was the "Children's Art Show". This show for grade school children would usually occur simultaneously with the "Fairmount Arts Crawl". It gave young children a sense of accomplishment to see their artwork adorned with ribbons. Lisa hoped to encourage children to enjoy the act of creation.
Lisa was extremely skilled in making beautiful things. Her crafts were displayed at St. Francis Xavier bazaar. One attendee wrote, "It was the highlight of the bazaar for me. I bought many wreaths, crafts for wedding gifts and birthdays. You name it. She had it or could make it. Crafty woman!" Lisa was an avid rubber stamper and knitter. Her creations were works of art: complex in design, precise in execution and exquisitely colorful. Lisa created handmade cards and gifts for friends and family for holidays and special occasions.
Lisa also loved going to the beach, especially Long Beach Island. She enjoyed traveling and discovering the world with trips to Alaska, Puerto Rico, Ireland, England, France to name a few.
The Reed family was blessed with the birth of daughter Rose Marie ("Little Rosie") in year 2006. The love that Lisa had toward Little Rosie was truly infinite.
Shortly after Rosie's birth, Lisa decided to leave the corporate world to pursue her dream of opening her own florist shop. Roland and Lisa purchased a storefront "fixer-upper" within sight of the Philadelphia Art Museum and proceeded to renovate the building during their "spare time" in the evenings and weekends. The store, Fleur de Lys, opened in September 2008. Lisa enjoyed working at the shop with Little Rosie and their dog Shelby at her side. It was a dream fully realized. One customer noted: "Little Rosie was there, the dog was there and all of her fabulous and unique flowers and gift items were there - I LOVED that shop." Another added "Lisa's smile and welcome were as beautiful as the flowers that she arranged."
Unfortunately, in the spring and summer of 2009 Lisa was stricken with multiple strokes and a heart attack caused by lung cancer. She courageously perservered through chemotherapy, physical therapy and speech therapy, and when it looked as though she was going to survive and recover, Lisa experienced a final devastating stroke.
Lisa died on July 8, 2010.
Lisa touched the lives of many people - and animals too - not just in the Philadelphia area, but throughout the world - from areas as near as next door to those as far away as Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her friends came from many walks of life, as well as many backrounds and lifestyles. They were like her rooftop garden--all colors, shapes and sizes, all different, and all loved--together making up a beautiful garden of life. Her love of life, people, animals, art, and nature will live on beyond her brief life on this home we call Earth.
Lisa's love for life was evident in all she did. When Lisa smiled - the whole world brightened. Lisa had the gift of making you feel like you were the most important person in the world and there was nothing she wouldn't do for you.
Everything Lisa did came from her heart. Her generosity of spirit, time, material sharing, and loving were boundless. One friend wrote "I remember being in a major almost fatal car accident in Delaware and Lisa was willing to drop everything to come see how I was. She came when I was in the hospital for various surgerie--she was always there, always willing to help, always being her giving self."
Lisa enriched every life she touched. Lisa's angelic touch and spirit will live on in this world and in all who were blessed with sharing her Earthly presence.
The family asks that friends and family respect Lisa's love of animals in need by making donations in the memory of Lisa Reed to the Morris Animal Refuge.
Lisa is survived by husband Roland Reed, daughter Rose Marie ("Little Rosie"), parents Rose Marie and Abel Pasicznyk, and brothers Alan, David and Barry Pasicznyk.
A viewing will occur on Tuesday July 13 from 6PM to 9PM at the Dinan Funeral Home (1921 Spring Garden St, #23, Philadelphia, PA 19130).
On Wednesday July 14 a public viewing will occur 9AM to 9:45AM, followed by a funeral service at 10AM. The funeral services will be at Saint Francis Xavier Church (2321 Green St, Philadelphia, PA 19130).
A burial service will occur at: Gethsemane Cemetary (3139 Kutztown Road, Reading PA 19605-2692). Reception will follow near Reading, PA.
