She later attended Detroit Public School and graduated from Highland Park Community College.
On June 28, 1947, Doris married Ernest Jones, Jr. and to this union five children were born: Ernest III, Rufus Franklin, Allen Douglas, Doris Eilyad and Deidre Gail who died in infancy.
Doris worked in banking for 25 years in various positions and retired April, 1991 from Huntington Bank. She was a member of Turner Chapel, C.M.E. for the past 21 yrs., and received Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior of her life in Sept. 1991.
Doris went home to be with the Lord on Mon., Aug 3, 1992 after a brief illness.
Doris was a loving wife and devoted mother who always dedicated her love, time & energies making her family lives pleasant and secure. This same love touched everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, Jr., whom she loved dearly. Left to mourn her memory are her children: Ernest III, Rufus, Allen, and Doris E. Jones; her mother, Alice Lewis, 3 sisters, Thelma Bolden, Jackie El,and Inez Lewis; 2 brothers, Marcus and Marvin Lewis; 2 grandchildren, Rufus Jones and Chardai Jones, and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
Burial Date: Saturday, August 8, 1992
