KINGS MOUNTAIN - The Rev. Dale Thornburg, 84, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Summitt Place.
He was born in Cleveland County to the late William Henry and Pearl Hayes Thornburg. He was husband to the late Eunice Et-ters Thornburg, also preceded in death by brothers, Rev. George Thornburg, James Thornburg and sisters, Mildred Wright, Wilma Byars, and Thelma Thornburg.
He was a retired N.C. State employee. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Rev. Thornburg was a retired Minister after over 50 years of service, founding Pastor of Chest-nut Ridge Baptist Church Kings Mountain and served as Pastor at Union Baptist Church, Lenoir, Piney Grove Baptist Church, Lenoir, Grandview Baptist Church, Lenoir, and retired from Eastside Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, serving there from 1982 – 1999.
He was a devoted servant of the Lord and loved people. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include sons, Mike Thornburg and wife, Donna, of Huntersville, and Chris Thornburg, of Cornelius; daughter, Suz-anne Thornburg-Klein, and husband, Evan, of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Kimberly Thornburg, Hayden Thornburg, Shane Thornburg, Zach Thornburg, Elliott Thornburg, Merritt Thornburg, and Jonathan Klein.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Stained Glass Room at First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
Funeral: Monday, 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church
