At the time of his retirement, Mr. Spencer was employed by the Burlington Railroad for over 40 years as a leverman.
He is survived by a son, Richard (Eve) Spencer of North Aurora, Illinois, formerly of Geneva; two grandchildren, Scott (Kathe) Spencer of Batavia, Illinois and Susan Spencer of Forth Worth, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Mallory, Morgan and Adam; one brother, J.A. (Kay) Spencer of Tucson, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Helen Dexter and Vivian Griffey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2001 from the Yurs Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Rte. 38), Geneva. Rev. Steve Miller will officiate. Private burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Stickney, Illinois.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
