Bennie L. DeVane, 86, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 26, 2010. He was born in Schley County, GA on August 4, 1923. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Kittie Lou DeVane; brothers, Charles, Willie, Barney; and sister, Dora V. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 30 years, Helen H. DeVane; sons, Richard (Verleen) and Ronald, brother Jim, one grandson, Jonathon; and many other loving family members. He had served in the United States Army during WWII. He then relocated to Jacksonville in 1960 with Atlantic Coastline Railroad as an accountant. Bennie was a proud member of Arlington United Methodist Church, where he was a founding member of the Super Seniors Group. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on June 30, 2010 at Arlington United Methodist Church, 1400 University Boulevard Drive North, Jacksonville, Florida. Family would like to receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church through the website at www.arlington-umc.org.
