John Adye was born on 7 May 1752, in Woodbury, Litchfield County, Connecticut. He was the son of William Adye and Sarah Hotchkiss (1731 CT - 1785 New Haven Co, CT). He married Hannah Johnson on 22 March 1775, in Paugasset, New Haven County, Connecticut. Hannah was the daughter of Gideon and Lydia (Beecher) Johnson. John and Hannah were the parents of three children. John married 2nd to Bathsheba Mix. He died on 4 November 1833, in Bethel, Windsor County, Vermont, at the age of 81, and was buried in Bethel, Windsor County, Vermont.
