George was married to Florence Julia Hill on November 10, 1903 in Washington, D.C. His parents were Frederick William Kirtland and Lucy White Bevier. George and Florence also had a son, Norman Frederick Kirtland who is buried at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside County, CA.

George R. (Bob) Kirtland, formerly of 2446 Rosewood Ave. died today in the Lucas County Home. Born in Plymouth, O., Mr. Kirtland lived here 45 years. He formerly operated the Postal Press, a multigraph advertising business. He was a member of the Downtown Exchange Club, Hightland Meadows Golf Club, and St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Suviving are daughters, Mrs. W.S. Murrin of Toledo, and Mrs. Wade Ely, Lamberville, Mich; son, Norman of Van Nuys, Calif; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Murphy-Roach mortuary. Private burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests that any tributes be in the form of contributions to the St. Mark's Church memorial fund.

Note: The obit says private burial at Woodlawn. According to Woodlawn Cemetery card, he was cremated and his ashes were scattered. I was told on the phone that both his and wife's ashes were scattered in Pennsylvania.
