John worked as a rancher and farmer most of his life and for the Sheridan County Road Department in his later years, until his retirement. In 1997, he and Stella moved from their hometown of Hoxie to Manhattan, KS so they could enjoy the company of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John found much pleasure in an old fashioned family reunion; a good card game; playing bingo; or having coffee and visiting with friends and family.
Over the many years of his life, he and Stella always had a much-loved dog or two in their home. He enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and most animals were his friend. John was a gentle, good-hearted man who will be greatly missed by Stella, his wife of 64 years; his children, Charles and wife, Judy, his daughter Lola, all of Manhattan, KS. and John and wife, Sue of Fort Lupton, CO.
Eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends will always have fond memories of John.
