Billy Rue Tolleson was the son of Johnny Forest Tolleson and Maude Violio (Ray) Tolleson. He married Alice Ruth Johnson on February 1, 1945 in Kirby, Pike County, Arkansas. They had two daughters, Twilla Ann and Sandra Lee Tolleson.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, at Restoration Fellowship in Springfield for Billy Rue Tolleson of Springfield, who died July 7 of complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 84.

He was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Amity, Ark., to Johnie and Maude Ray Tolleson. He married Alice Johnson on Feb. 1, 1945, in Kirby, Ark. She died Dec. 15, 2005.

He served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Georgia Pacific.

Survivors include his life partner for more than three years, Shirley Waterman; two daughters, Twilla Moorehead of Eugene and Sandra "Cheri" Shaffer of Springfield; a brother, James of Kirby, Ark.; two half-brothers, Floyd and Gerald, both of Kirby, Ark.; three grandchildren; and five great-grand­children.
