OBITUARY
Mrs. Wealthy B. Stevens passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.Z. Davis on Sunday morning at five o'clock.
Mrs. Stevens ws born near Erie, Pa., on May 18th, 1823. In 1842 she came with her parents to Green County. On October 15th, 1844, she was married to Sylvester Stevens. To this union were born ten children, six of whom are living: Alfred, of Henderson, Neb.; James, of Boaz, Wis.; Edward, of Juda, Wis.; and Mrs. Susan Davis, and Mrs. J.Z. Davis also of Juda. Sylvester Stevens died in 1909. [NOTE: Alfred was a resident of Eagan, South Dakota; Alba, who is not mentioned, lived in Henderson, Neb.]
Mrs. Stevens was converted at the age of fifteen years. She was one of the charter members of the Juda M.E. Church which was organized in 1862, and has been a prominent worker and loyal supporter of the church ever since. She has always been held in the very highest esteem by all who knew her.
The funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 31st, in the home at one o'clock, and in the church at 1:30. The Pastor, Rev. W.J. Marshfield, officiated, preaching from Phil. 1:21, "To me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." The songs were sung by Mrs. Bagley, Miss Gifford, F.E. Matzke and J. Wolgast; Mrs. Kryder presided at the organ.
The remains were interred in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
The members of the family wish to thank those who gave their sympathy and help in this time of sorrow.
