Beulah Bell Clarkson
GAP MILLS — Beulah Bell Clarkson, 90 of Gap Mills, passed away Wednesday morning, July 7, 2010 at the Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor, Va. following a short illness.
Mrs. Clarkson was born at Gap Mills, December 11, 1919, a daughter of the late William Blaine and Florence Kathryn Arthur Porterfield.
She was retired employee of the Andrew S. Rowan Home having worked in the dietary department and a member of the Gap Mills United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Clarkson was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Clarkson; a daughter, Virginia Lee Clarkson; a son-in-law, Buddy Hoke and seven brothers and sisters, she was the last remaining member of the family.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Bratton and her husband, Dale of Covington, Va., and Mary Jane Hoke of Sweet Springs; a son, Jerry Clarkson of Covington, Va.; four grandchildren, Dale Bratton Jr. and his wife, Evelyn, Becky Nuckles and her husband, Steve, Susan Walton and her husband, Tim, all of Covington, Va. and Sharon Panek and her husband, Brent of McLean, Va.; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Gap Mills United Methodist Church at Gap Mills with the Rev. Larry Atkin officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills.
Friends may call at the Groves Funeral Home in Union from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Groves Funeral Home in Union is in charge of arrangements.
