Gladys Spigener Atkinson, 91, of 5101 Burchap Drive in Myrtle Beach died Wednesday, March 11 1992, in the Conway Nursing Center.

Born March 27 1900 in St. Matthews she was a daughter of the late Walter Spigener and Frederica Buyck Spigener.

Mrs. Atkinson was a 1920 graduate of Converse College. She moved to the area from Charlotte 22 years ago.

She was the widow of Samuel Talley Atkinson and a member of the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, Myrtle Beach Garden Club, and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter Marion "Tootie" Allen of Myrtle Beach; a sister Marion Spigener of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

Graveside services will be at 11 am Friday at Ocean Woods Cemetery with the Rev William Bouknigtht officiating.
