Jerry W. McAfee, 65, of rural Markle, died at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Born in Huntington to Frederick and Miriam (Beverly) McAfee on Aug. 23, 1942, he married Sharon Souers in Warren on Oct. 3, 1964; she survives.
A 1960 graduate of Rock Creek High School, Mr. McAfee retired from General Electric in Marion after 30 years, and also worked as a barber in Nile Frantz's barber shop. He served with the Indiana National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 111. He was also a member of Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, Masonic Lodge #145 F&AM, and also the Hickory Hills Golf Club.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Joy (William) Holder of Warsaw, and Shelly (Todd) Edris of Markle; one brother, Elwin Ray McAfee of Blythwood, S.C.; one sister, Beverly (Randy) McCartney of Bluffton; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton with Pastor Tom Bradley officiating. Calling hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial is at St. Paul Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association.
