Thomas Bacon was the oldest son and child of James and Magdalena Neumann/Neimon Bacon and was born in Maidencreek, Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Shortly after his birth the family made their way south from Pennsylvania. The family settled in Washington Co., Tennessee. February 8, 1797 James Bacon bought land from William Bullington, 1815 Capt Grimsley's Co. shows Bacon brothers Jonathan, James, Charles and John along with John Brown, William Barron, Walker Barron and Jonathan Bacon, Jr. all living in the same district.

May 16, 1815 Thomas was discharged from the war of 1812 having served in Joseph B Bacon company.

129 acres which Thomas and John Bacon first purchased jointly in 1822 and again in January 4, 1831 129 acres which Thomas and John Bacon first purchased jointly in 1822 were assigned by Thomas to his brother John.

It is thought that Thomas Bacon was married previously and had a son Jesse Bacon born 1824, the mother possibly dying in childbirth and Thomas later marries Sarah Barron, a neighbor whose family lived on West Sinking Springs.

Thomas and Sarah were parents to : Jesse, Phoebe Ann, Charley, Mary, Isaac, Daniel, John N., James, Sarah Ann, Thomas Jr., Jonathan, Amanda Jane and Jacob Bacon.
