Mary was born on 4 April 1867 in Briery Branch and lived her entire life in the area. She was the daughter of Benjamin Simmons and Susan Simmons (nee Losh). She married James William Howdyshell on 30 August 1891. She had been in ill health for several years but became critical on Saturday, 18 March 1934 and died in her home three days later.
