George Washington Bruffey was the son of Sarah "Sally" Lewis (1790-1850) and Mark James Bruffey (1791-1870); both of his parents were born in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. George was the third son born to that union.

Georgia Bell "Georgie" b 26 Mar 1885 d 31 Jan 1964. On 27 Mar 1907 married John Clifton Minter b 1884 d Aug 1907. They were members of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. However before they could leave for China, Clifton was taken seriously ill and was hospitalized in Las Vegas, New Mexico for 5 months before he died Aug 1907. Georgie and George had joined the Christian and Missionary Alliance in 1907 to begin service in Wuhu, Central China. After Clifton died, Georgie went to Wuhu, Central China where she served the Alliance until 1923 when she was stationed in Warren, Ohio, as her sister, Amanda Emma had died 09 Apr 1923 leaving her husband with 10 children.

George was a minister and he and Nancy led a full life raising their children and enjoying their grandchildren.

George Washington Bruffey died on March 3, 1888 and was buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Monroe County, West Virginia, he was 73 years old. Nancy would follow him in death in 1892, just 4 years later.
