Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Winberry Hales 57, wife of Claude Hales of 1805 Maryland Ave., will be held today at 4 o'clock at the Clyde Kelly Chapel. The Rev. Warren Carr will officiate. Interment will be in new Maplewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Hales died Monday afternoon at 1:40 o'clock after an illness of several weeks. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Winberry.
Surviving are her husband, Claude Hales; three sons, Mack, Erwin, and Robert Hales; one daughter, Miss Doris Hales; two sisters, Mrs. W.B. Beavers of Greensboro and Mrs. Anne Ashe of Asheville; and a brother, Mack Winberry of Durham.
Active pallbearers will be P.C. Gornto, Frank Saunders, Carroll Pledger, Norman Kelly, Don Nifong, and Charles M. Hales.
Honorary pallbearers will be S.L. Nifong, J.B. Hall, J.F. Goodrich, George Conway, Joseph Edwards, W.M. Lockamy, J.S. Farmer, J.A. Kellum, Hardie O. West, A.D. Parrish, W.T. Dixon, Dr. Waldo Boone, and Dr. R.E. Nichols.

Catherine's Death Certificate gives her name as "Cathleen". This information was given by her own brother, Mack Winberry. In fact, the name "Cathleen" is found on a number of documents for her, as is the name "Catherine".

She was the daughter of W.M. Winberry and Lora Williams.
